Catch Up Thursday | Tensley's First Haircut

The first Friday of the month I took Tensley to get her first official haircut.
She has only had 2 small trims since she has been born, which we had done by someone in their home.

David had been saying for awhile that Tensley need a better cut or style.
Though I hated to admit it he was right. Her hair was getting stringy at the bottom and completely unbearable to do another with it.

So we schedule an appointment with our friend Alyssa.
Tensley was nervous at first, but getting the full salon treatment was right up her alley.

Right before we walked I stopped Tensley outside of the salon door so that I could grab a quick picture of her and the length of her hair.
I secretly wished I had straightened this day so I could see if it really was long enough to reach her bootie.

She found out quickly that this is the best part of getting your hair done.

Right before Alyssa started cutting her hair.
Can you see how long her hair is...crazy right.

Then she learned what her momma's favorite part of getting your hair done is.
Having your stylist do your hair all fancy before you leave.
Alyssa was so sweet to girl this girls hair.

After math.

Happy girl with her new haircut.
Her hair is healthier, lighter, and we couldn't be happier.

Her is a side by side photo.
I can see now why so many people have been asking if her hair was darkened.
Cutting off the ends and all her baby blond hair truly darkened up her locks.

I truly enjoy getting to do her hair in the mornings before school.
Thank you Alyssa, we are so pleased with new look!

Basement Inspiration

We have been in our home a little over 5 years now.
We have painted 4 rooms.
Everything else looks just like it did when I was growing up, the only difference is the furniture and a ton of little girls toys all around the house.

For some time now I have been itching to really change things up.
David is very much a saver and a realistic spender.
I'm more like "oh I like this, lets get it." Or "let's pay someone to do this."
See why it has taken us 5 years to really change things up.

So we finally agreed to change up the basement.
I'm so excited because guys that room has a 2 tone paint job, gray on the top and a dark red/maroon like on the bottom.

When did Tensley go from this little toddler

to this semi big girl! It's true babies don't keep!
Also, do you see what I mean about the 2 tone color.
So now all the red/maroon is gone! Wahoo

Just recently we I have painted the bottom half, we painted it Greek Villa by Sherwin Williams.
I love having a white on the bottom and a gray on the top.
Once we finish deciding on furniture and decor I can't wait to show you all the finish results.

Here are some of my favorite basement looks that I'm using for inspirations.
Which one is your favorites?

1. This photo was our inspiration for the paint color. Our gray isn't this dark but it still
helped us decide to put white on the bottom.

2. Don't you love that bench seating on the side of the tv.
I just love the cabinets underneath for storage.
{we need all the storage we can create!}

3. The lighting in this basement is my favorite.
We are talking about putting track lighting in our basement,
anyone ever tackle that themselves?

4. I mean guys that built in, the lighting and the wall colors.

5. I love the fireplace in the corner, we have a gas-log
unit that is in the corner. Maybe I should convince David to give it this built in look!

6. Those built in and the pallet wall.

one || two || three || four || five || six

Which one is y'alls favorite?
I feel like I need to take a little something from each look
to create our perfect basement space.

Catch Up Thursday || Sunset Beach, NC

Happy Thursday Friends!
I hope y'all are having a great week, grab your coffee/tea and lets catch up!

The last weekend in August the girls and I drove down to Sunset Beach, NC.
We stayed at the Sea Trail Resort with my sister and her family.
This little golf retirement community was the cutest place ever.
Phonsavanah (my brother in law, we call him Fonsi) was in a wedding over the weekend, so they invited us to tag along to keep their son Lewis.

I haven't seen my sister and her family since our grandfather's funeral over 2 years ago.
Lewis has grown so much and Everley has never met any of them.
Needless to say we were all extremely excited to see them and spend the weekend with them.
Tensley counted down the days till she could see her cousin Lewis.
She loves her cousins, even if they are all boys.

The first night these two were getting acclimated to one another, but by the time they woke up the next morning they were the best of friends.  They played together all morning until it was time for us to go to the beach.

See I told you this girl learned to love the beach, as long as she could carry around her snacks.
She would walk down to the edge of the ocean and then walk all the way back up to us.

Besties!

Big. Middle. Little.
Cadwell Cousins

Everley is absolutely in love with Lewis.
She wanted to snuggle and play him the entire weekend.
Every morning Everley would wake up and call over to their bed to wake Lewis up.

My little swimmer.

My Girls.
{I adore this photo, I need to print this one out for sure!}
Their dresses are from the gap outlet, wish I could still find them online.

I had to post all of these cousins photos because seriously Lewis face .... PRICELESS!
I love that sweet boy, but he did not one to take a picture for anything.
So thankful we were able to get at least one of everyone looking at the camera and decently smiling.
Grandma Bette, sorry this is the best we could do. I hope you enjoy your great grand babies!

Try as she might, she will do anything to keep up with big kids!

Big. middle. Little.
The Boss. The Rule Follower. The one trying to keep up!

Their final meal together.
That girl was devastated that Lewis was heading back to San Fran in a few hours.

She got over it quick though when we drove down to Tanger Outlet in SC for some shopping and ice cream!

I can't believe I didn't get a single picture with my big sister.
It was such a treat to spend the weekend with them, watching our kids play truly was the highlight of the entire weekend.
Now Stephanie and I are each lobbying for our states and trying to convince the other to move.
Weekly she tells me why I need to move to Cali.
Every week I tell her why she needs to move to the DC area for work.
What do you guys think?
Boswells in Cali.....

Kia Sedona VS Chevrolet Suburban

If you follow long on Instagram then you saw I posted this picture back in July.
We have taken 2 big family road trips this year so we rented cars for each of them.
We rented the Kia Sedona back in April for Rachel & Patricks Wedding.
My Aunt rented the Chevrolet Suburban for our trip in July to PA for a girls weekend.

I thought I should share my Pros and Cons of both vehicles.
They are both 2016 models.
They both have leather interior.
My girls loved them both.
I loved them both for different reason.

2016 Kia Sedona
David and I rented this so for his cousins wedding.
For my first mini van I'm glad it was a KIA, I never thought I'd love a KIA.
But y'all I really loved this van.
The entire trip back while David drove, I searched for the best deals on a model for myself.
Needless to say David didn't think a van was a necessary purchase.
Pros:
7 Seats! I love that the middle had bucket seats.
Tons of leg room.
Middle Console organization.
RADIO AND BLUETOOTH (guys I have been without for 2 years!)
Drove like an SUV, you're up really high.
Leather Interior (so easy to wipe clean with little ones)
Trunk was very deep.
Automatic Side doors. (Tensley LOVED this!)
Great Gas Mileage (highway was close to 28)

Cons:
The 3rd row sinks down a tad. It's lower then the middle row.
Automatic side doors (I know what momma puts this on the con, but when you 4 year old is constantly wanting to 'help' open and close them. It can make you a bit nervous and crazy.)
Hard to reach the girls from the driver seat (I'm spoiled being able to reach them both)
It's a minivan.......

2016 Chevrolet Suburban
My Aunt rented this for our girls weekend to PA.
We went to see the play Sampson and shop with her best friend.
I have been dreaming about being a suburban momma.
Guys my dreams came true for an entire weekend.
I will say this the suburban hype is all that it is cracked up to be.
David forget the van get this momma a Surburban PRONTO!

Pros:
The Trunk Space totally put the Sedona's trunk space to shame!
Leather Interior
The middle console organization. Y'all I could fit my purse in there and it's a BIG Bag!
8 Seats...Wahoo more friends!
Blindspot Mirror lights. (so helpful when needing to change lights)
Drove smoothly and easily.
Keyless Entry (This is a must for all mommas!)
Key Engine Start (Again a must for all mommas!)
Not a Minivan! :)

Cons:
BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR (OUCH!)
8 seats... guys in an SUV you need middle bucket seats.
Radio/DVD Middle Screen...it's overwhelming
Blindspot Mirror lights, until you get use to them they will give you major ANXIETY!

I hope this review of both vehicles was helpful. I know that once David and I are ready to upgrade my Jetta to something bigger we will definitely keep these rentals and their reviews in our minds.

Disclaimer, this post is in NO WAY sponsored by Kia or Chevrolet. We rented each both theses vehicles on our own. The opinions of each vehicle are my own. THANK YOU so much for supporting the blog! Love Y’all!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday Friends!
Today I'm back to linking up with Erika and Shay for Friday Favorites.

1. LuLuLemon Attie

Y'all I had never bought a skirt from LuLuLemon before.
I typically would only buy sports bras (because they held up so well) but guys I'm loving these skirts.
This skirt is the teal one I'm wearing. It's super comfortable and moves with you.
I have worn this class to Body Pump and it did great.

Okay Excuse this awful bathroom.
But how adorable does it look with my Lily Luxletic Jacket.
You can shop the Lily Luxletic Line here, I got this jacket during the After Party Sale a few weeks ago.

The other skirt I bought while at LuLuLemon Outlet was this black all pleaded on.
I tried to find it online, but they currently don't have it. Boo.
This one is very flowy and flirty! I feel extra girly whenever I wear it.
I have worn this skirt to our YMCAs Barre Class and it holds up really well.

My favorite sports bra from LuLuLemon are the Energy Bra found here and the Free to Be Bra found here. I know that LuLuLemon is a bit pricey for workout clothes. So unless I'm at the outlet I only buy the bras. They are so worth the investment!

2. Miss Virginia 2016
This year we had the pleasure of watching Michaela become our Miss Virginia 2016 and have gotten to see her at a couple of events here locally in the Roanoke Valley.
Tensley truly looks up to her and just loves her.
We were so bummed she didn't make farther in the Miss USA Pagaent this weekend, but we are happy to have her sticking around good Ole Virginy this year.

We love forward to sharing girls nights with this sweet lady!

3. Pink Drink from Starbucks
Clearly I am late to the Pink Drink Party.
I splurged on this during Tensley's first week of school.
Friends it really is as amazing as all the reviews said it would be.
I was hesitant at first to order it at first, because if I'm going to shell out close to $5 on a treatyoself Starbucks I better not hate what I'm ordering. #AMIRIGHT
I have ordered this a couple more times. My favorite morning was when I ordered a Venti and they upgraded me to a Trenta for Free!

Ps. I have also tried the PSL on ICE....guys its amazing. I wish I had taken a photo of it.
On ice is good and perfect for this Hot September days when it's suppose to be fall weather.

4. Back to School Breakfast
This year some girls and I got together on Monday morning for breakfast to start the new school year.
In our area some schools started Mid August and some started After Labor Day. So once everyone was in school we got together for breakfast.
A way to encourage one another and pray for one another.
I'd like to thank Shay and Erika for this idea, ladies I hope you don't mind that we borrowed it.

I'm already kicking myself for not getting a group picture.

However I did snag this picture with one of my best girls because we wore our matching LuLaRoe Leggings!
Isn't she the cutest, see our sweet friend Ashely with Everley in the window.
My booties are here, Our Leggings are from Cherie you can contact her here, my top is from TJ Maxx, and my bag is here
{Both the booties and the bag I scored during the Anniversary Sale}

5. First Days of School
At the end of August Tensley had her last first day of Preschool.
Two nights before school started we met Amanda and Eisley at the mall to buy first day outfits.
The girls bought matching dresses and shirt-tutu outfit.
They planned to wear the dresses for the first day.
Eisley wore hears to Kindergarten.
Tensley wore hears to Preschool.
They both had the best first days!

Right in front of preschool.
She wants to grow up to be a Princess and live in a castle.
